CRA Interculturality Committee Gathering: Safeguarding Challenges Across Cultures A Mixed Mode Conversation

Outline of the Day
Peter Rodney FMS will present on the challenges associated with the lived reality of safeguarding across cultures and its implications for our practice. He will also be joined by Natalie Acton, who will share her experience of this issue. Discussion will then follow in the hubs or in online breakout rooms, providing an opportunity to share with each other your own learnings, in order to help others navigate through this increasingly complex space. All will then come back together on Zoom for a final conversation.

Speakers
Peter Rodney FMS
chairs the Province Safeguarding Commission of the Star of the Sea Province of the Marist Brothers. This newly constituted Province consists of 10 countries. He is also the Secretary of the Province’s Initial Formation Commission. Previously, he served as Rector of the Marist Asia Pacific Centre in Manila, which is a university college for Brothers from Asia and the Pacific. Prior to that, he was a member of the General Council of the Marist Brothers in Rome.

Natalie Acton is the Director of Operations with the Sisters of the Good Samaritan. She is a mission-focused leader with a demonstrated history of working both in the for profit and for purpose sectors. Natalie has over ten years’ experience in the Catholic sector in a range of settings including operations, mission and culture, governance and community engagement. She holds qualifications in theology and business law.
